The Archaeology Museums, host outstanding collections of art from the ancient East, Greece and Rome! It houses over one million objects that represent almost all of the eras and civilizations in the world history.

The Istanbul Archaeology Museums consists of three museums:


Museum of the Ancient Orient
Located right on your left after the entrance of the complex. This building has a collection of pre-Islamic items collected from the expanse of the Ottoman Empire. It includes treasures like the tiled gates from Babylon and the oldest written peace treaty ever discovered (cuneiform tablets which preserved the words of the Hittite and Egyptian kings)

Archaeology Museum
The neo-classic building which hosts the Archaeology Museum collection is dedicated to the period after about 500 BC. It includes many of the finest Greek and Roman marble statues discovered in Anatolia

Tiled Pavilion
The last of the complex's museum buildings, this handsome pavilion, constructed in 1472 by order of Mehmet the Conqueror. On display, there are Seljuk, Anatolian and Ottoman tiles and ceramics dating from the end of the 12th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The collection includes İznik tiles from the period between the mid-14th and 17th centuries when the city produced the finest colored tiles in the world

Visitor Information

The museum is open from 09:00 to 19:00, everyday except Mondays. The ticket costs 15 TL. Entrance is free for kids under 12.
